Heading South - perhaps in more ways than one

Friday, 16 February 2007. The Kline clan is headed towards San Antonio to see Andrew perform in the All State High School symphonic band. I 've got my game face on, listening to "Learn to Speak Romanian in five minutes" in Moldova on an iPod Shuffle I received as a gift from the Leukemia and Lymphomia Society for participation in the 2005 Light the Night walk.
Pillow Talk

Ever cooperative, the kids are delighted to pose for this picture.

A tradeshow accompanied the various music performances this weekend. Aric and I had a blast on the Roland Synthesizers.
The sounds these devices can make is phenomenal. I played an electronic trap set. I had not played drums of any configuration since 1987...

Kathy gives a new mouthpiece to Andrew outside of the Convention Center. All State Tuba player Brian Norris stands to Andrew's right.
The "Don't Walk" signal is universally respected by pedestrians in San Antonio.

Like I said, jay-walking is common place.

Time for dinner at La Fogata. It is still Friday; Andrew's band has not performed yet.
Other members of the Argyle High School Marching Band have also made State.

It was great to have the entire family at State. Here are Austin and Aric.

Andrew is flanked by Argyle Band Directors, Ms Johnson and Mr. Lemmish. Kathy and Aimee, obviously up to something,
complete this part of the table, along with Brian Norris, partially hidden by Andrew.

We are all actually as happy to be here as Argyle Band Director Mr. Anderson. What an experience to see
your child be recognized as one of the best high school muscians in the State of Texas.

Unfortunately, the pics I took during the concert are all too dark and too red. My camera cannot do justice to the image of the #1 State Band from the balcony in the auditorium. But I will supplement the pictures in this photo album with others as they become available.

At least I was able to get this shot of Andrew after the event. He seems pleased, as well he should. Aaron is just behind Andrew.

Back home today, Sunday, 18 Feb 07, Andrew proudly displays his Texas-sized State Band insignia,
plaque, letter jacket and the awesome Trombone that he plays so well.

It will be a challenge to find a spot on Andrew's Letter Jacket for all of his commemorative awards.
If you look closely, you can see the College that Andrew currently favors.
