The Pager
A small device with a big impact.

Listen to my Prayer Pager Story

Do you need a Prayer Pager?

The Prayer Pager

When someone prays for me, I can feel it. Literally. Two days before my surgery, a package arrived containing a pager and a note that I had been added to the First Baptist Church of Richardson's prayer chain. Anytime one of these folks prays, they call the number of the pager, and then enter "777" or their zip code followed by the "#" key. I do not return these pages, but I am made aware of the fact that I am being remember in prayer.

Well, I must say that the pager has been going off several times per day since February 2nd, 2004. Sometimes multiple pages seem to arrive at once. The pager goes off in the middle of the night! When I first returned home from the hospital, I could not sleep through the night, due to the steroids that I had to take to control the swelling in my head following the operation. So I would occasionally get up at 2 or 3 in the morning and just walk around the house praying.

Even at 3 am, the pager vibrates. I couldn't believe that someone would be praying for me this early in the morning. The prayer pager has been an incredible source of encouragement. I know that people are lifting me up to the Lord. The constant activity of the pager (I have replaced the battery multiple times, and I estimate that over 4000 pages have been received) demonstrates the existance of a dedicated army of prayer warriors who take their role of intercessor very seriously. So to Gary Kennedy and the many other folks committed to this ministry of prayer, thank-you and may God richly bless you!

I also receive pages from folks who are not members of FBCR. In fact, it would be great to get a page from you! Just call 972-321-0088 and enter your zip code at the beep followed by the "#" key.

As of November 2004, there are folks I now page who have a pager like mine. I sometimes enter the time of day rather than my zip code or 777. One such person is Caroline Vallelian, whose story you really should review. Caroline's mom says: "That tiny electrical device has proven to be such a powerful source of strength. Hearing those beeps and realizing that someone is praying for her gives us all a sense of calm. Knowing that others are praying for us is also a very humbling experience..."

The pager ministry is expanding, encouraging folks to pray and providing comfort to those being prayed for. I recommend that you read more about this unique ministry opportunity.
