A Medical Timeline
This page presents my treatments in a graphical format as a function of topic and time. Not much commentary here, so check the site map and links contained herein for more information.
Notes:
1. Tumor identified 30 January 2004. Surgery 04 February 2004
2. Conformal radiation and concurrent oral Temodar chemotherapy beginning 08 March 2004, lasting six weeks
3. Monthly Temodar continuing until the fall of 2006. Carboplatin chemo starting in June 2007, discontinued in November 2007 (return of clean scans). This Carbo cycle was repeated for the second recurrent tumor in March 2009. One additional Carbo and Avastin cycle was appended to the second tumor treatments, but the tumor returned in April 2010. Genetic tests will be run on the tumor to see what other meds might destroy the beast forever.
4. Bi-monthly MRIs beginning June 2004, moving to monthly in June 2007 (tumor recurrence), then back to bi-monthly in November 2007. Monthly MRIs resumed for the second recurrent tumor in March 2009, then back to bi-monthly in June 2009. Monthly scans again in April 2010 for the third recurrent tumor; will continue through July 2010. I have had one PET scan.
5. Decadron steriod taken to reduce swelling of brain prior to surgery; gradually phased out during radiation. Zofran and Kytril sometimes taken with Temodar, but eventually stopped, due to impact to GI tract. Keppra started in June 2005 in response to a seizure and continues to this day. The Avastin was stopped two months after the first clean scan following the first recurrence.
