I am searching for an affordable plastic model of a 1976 Formula Firebird. This model, manufactured by MPC, is kit # 1-7615 and is proving very difficult to locate! I did manage to find two unassembled kits on eBay, but they were too expensive (more than $60). Other years, such as 1975 and 1977, are in abundance, but not so this 1976 edition of the Firebird.
I built one of these models in 1977, but it melted on the dashboard of my Trans Am in 1980. Hopefully an unbuilt less expensive '76 Firebird model will eventually turn up, and I can build this Firebird as a Trans Am again with parts I already have from other kits. All I really need is the '76 front end and I could easily build a '76 TA from a '78 kit. The 1978 Trans Am model in 1/25th scale is readily available and inexpensive; in fact I have four copies of the '78 model.
